As I said in one of the previous posts, most of the wiring,in the engine bay has been disconnected for some strange reason.I am now onto the wiring part of restoring the car.Can someone please tell me,am I correct in thinking that the attached photo is the ignition relay. If not ,which relay is the ignition one. Also what is this one? I have just finished rehanging the doors, what a job,I removed them when I stripped all the paint off the car,to spray them properly, but the n/s passenger door has taken me 10 hours to get it right ,with shims.Oh the joy of restoration

Stunning car by the way, just looking at the fuse board, makes it look like new.I know I have no chance of bringing this restoration near to that. However ,the car is looking a darn sight better after lying about since 1988.This is the 5th Rover I have restored, the past ones have all needed a fair amount of work doing to them.It is either that ,or spending a fortune on a good looking car and still being caught.I bought a P5B 3-4 years ago, which looked good, but I ended up literally shovelling the plastic padding filler into a dust bin. I also realised I paid over the odds ,when I got down to it.At least buying one like I have done ,you are expecting work on it .Thanks again,I tested the relay and the coil wa sopen circuit, but I have managed to repair it OK

It's under the large Flexible Heater Blower hose to the right of the heater box mounted on the side of the motor housing.

Many thank yet again,I don`t suppose you would like to swap cars ,it would make my life easier.I still cannot understand why nearly all of the wiring in the engine bay has been diconnected, apart from giving me something to do.

Hello another question about the wiring,The ign coil was missing on my car,is it fixed on the nearside inner wing or off side.Checking the wiring, the lead to feed 12volts to the coil when starting , appears to be on the nearside, checking continuity. Also on the circuit diag.I have ,the ignition relay is marked no 2 and the starter relay is no 5 is this correct. The wiring has really got to be sorted on this car Len

2 is the start relay and 51 is the charge relay Len check my picture for coil position if it was the later armoured type it would be drivers side. My car has never had a ballast fitted if it did it was before I had it in 73

Believe it or not,and I have just checked it again. In my old workshop manual,no2 relay is listed as the ignition relay, and relay no 51 is listed as the starter relay. This is what has been throwing me for a while.I decided after a couple of hours checking the wiring, that they must have got the numbers mixed up.As though I havn`t enough to do

Rover's wiring diagrams contain a number of errors. Pre 69 cars had separate ballast on near side inner wing next to low mounted coil. Later cars pre Theif proof coil on Servo had loom ballast and coil mounted high up on near side wing
Club Members can have colour wiring diagrams emailed to them without errors! See members section above
