The engine is now running as I hoped ,I fitted an uprated relief spring to the oil pump to be on the safe side. I still have a problem with the charging circuit.I have had the alternator checked and that is OK .The company who checked it ,gave me a replacement warning light relay ,still no difference. There is an ammeter fitted, which show normal discharge when switching on but still does not show a charge when the engine is running. The only thing I havn`t checked now,is the 4TR relay. There was one in the box of spares with the car, which I have tried, still no charge, but I have no idea if that works.I am wondering whether to change the alternator ,for a more up to date one with a built in regulator.Any ideas

I have just found the problems ,the 4TR relay was faulty, trying the spare made no difference, but the main problem was that the feed from +ve to C2 on the 6RA relay was open circuit .Re wired fitted the spare 4TR relay and hey presto circuit charges. So hopefully the engine bay area is now sorted I can sit and have a Sunday afternoon reading the papers now.
