Hello Guy, good to hear from a fellow newbie and new P5B owner, hope to see a picture of yours soon and enjoy. Was looking for a classic for a while and always had a soft spot for the P5B Coupe and finally got one after a bit of searching as you can see. Enjoy yours and again thanks for the post. John.

What a great looing Coupe, well done - I had my eye on this one when I saw it advertised a while ago, if the other half hadn't diverted the funds to paying a chunk off the mortgage I might just have beaten you to it! Very unusual to see a monotone Coupe with a matching Webasto sunroof. Nidge

Hello Nidge, women eh, what they like. Well maybe it was meant to be, I been looking for one for a while so thank her from me. Thanks for your kind comments, yes the monotone with the webasto roof gives her a bit more individuality. Still much to learn as never driven one before now, as in how she picks up, throttle pedal seems a bit stiff, could all be normal but until you start conversing with others you get to know whether she performs the same etc. Anyway, good to hear from you Nidge and thanks again 😊

As it turns out there may be another Coupe on the horizon, don't want to jinx it by saying too much but it's in my favourite colour combo of Burnt Grey over Silver Birch with a Mulberry interior. I shall await events anyway. Having owned two so far I found both of mine to have the same feel when driving them, despite the first one being a bit 'tired' and the second almost fully restored. The V8 burble and accompanying serge forward towards the horizon was wonderful, countered slightly by the very light, almost fingertip light, power assisted steering and body roll going into tight bends. Sitting in those big comfy armchairs they felt like very big cars with that fantastic view down the bonnet (probably second only to Bentleys and Rolls Royces from the same period), but in reality not that much bigger than some modern five door hatchbacks. Aside from driving them it was the sheer presence of the thing which brought so much pleasure, and the little details in and around the car always made me smile - the lock for the chromed petrol cap in the boot, the thin window pillars and all that bright stainless steel and chrome everywhere. Oh and the smell every time I opened the doors, and the heavy 'clunk' when closing them again. I do miss mine.... the chap I sold the second one to advertised it for sale on here last July, I only found out the other day, if I'd known about it at the time I'd have been up there like a shot and bought it back.

Hello Nidge, thanks for your reply, well things happen for a reason and good luck with Rover that's a lovely combination and maybe it's why you missed Pearl, you'll probably thank the wife after all. Well I couldn't have put your description better myself, I love all that about the car myself, but the smell, that tops it for me, I can't get enough of that every time I open the door. My grandad had a MK2 Jaguar when I was a kid and the smell was exactly the same, takes me back every time. shame you missed out on regaining your 2nd Rover but as we say, things happen for a reason and I'm sure the right one will come along. im taking ' Pearl ' for a look over at a place called Pride and Joy soon, they are a classic car company and deal with everything from overhauls, restorations etc, so hopefully the once over will not reveal anything major. Anyway, good luck with the Rover your looking at, let me know how you get on. John.
