The car is 3 litre mark 1. I have taken the cylinder head from the car and are cleaning the valves. The gasket set that I have includes a number of seals or O rings. My question is where do I put the following:
6 Tiny O rings about the size of a 5p
6 Larger O rings about the size of 10p
6 Even larger O rings
When I dismantled I never came across any O rings. I am dealing at present with inlet valves only.
Are all the O rings or seals to do with the inlet and not exhaust?
Your expertise would be much appreciated and I thank you in advance for your help.
Tony

Inlet valve seals only = small 10p size Plug caps or rocker covers larger size - the ones that do not fit the above!

My manual says "Fit new o seal to each valve guide as shown in fig 14" However it does not say how. Fingers are too large to be of use and how do you extract the old O rings.
I know this is basic maintenance for the many but not for me.
Your valued comments are much appreciated.

You need to dig them out of the guide with a Rt angled scribe - they can be difficult to see and also rock hard so they chip out. Once all removed find some smaller fingers and carefully push down till the fully locate. This part is quite easy.
make sure you well lubricate the guide and stems before inserting the valves and do not remove them again so ensure valves ground in and all cleaned before sliding in the valves.
The seals are not very effective and quickly harden

Putting new O-rings in is dead easy! Insert one valve first from the correct side, until the valve top is just below the O-ring recess. Shove in the O-ring and tamp it into place with a second valve from the wrong side.
Lastly, before you put the valves back, use a diamond file to relieve the sharp edges in the valve stem where the collets seat, or they will cut and damage the new O-rings.
