Hi, couple of novice questions, firstly how are the 2" instruments held in the Coupes pods ?, I can't see the knurled nuts on studs I was expecting.
secondly, where roughly is the shunt for the ammeter located.
Many thanks ....

Hi, the 4 instruments under the main binnacle are held by small screws that screw-in from underneath the 'pods', holding the instruments in place. The Ammeter shunt (on my 1968 P5B Coupe) is part of a connector block that has 8 thick brown and brown/white wires connecting to it, some with larger-than-normal spade connectors. It's screwed upside-down underneath the dashboard rail, just above the steering column. The shunt is actually the silver-coloured link you can see below, welded to (and linking) the two copper connector strips. The two wires that are welded to the copper strips are the ones that go to the ammeter:

Thank you Richard and John, I recognise the shunt now, mine has a broken mount, one leg is missing !. I will look for the retaining screw on the gauges, I didn't expect them to be clamped in, on previous period cars I have only seen the U shaped brackets, knurled nuts and studs.
