The 11AC Alternator suffers from worn/noisy bearings, worn pick up rings on the Armature, Open Circuit or Short Circuit Diodes and worn Brushes, working intermittently is not normal! possible poor spade contacts??

Thank goodness John...after that description I'm glad I don't have one of those in my Rover!
