Hi
Wife's just bought 1966 Rover 3 litre MK111 auto. I've noticed that it is possible to turn over and start the car with the gear lever in any position (i.e. in gear). I assume this is not right as the wiring diagram shows an inhibitor switch. Can anyone tell me where the switch is located please so that I can check it out.
Thanks
Pete

N/s of gearbox - circular switch 1.5" Dia near the bell housing look underneath car. It may be an adjustable one. Later ones were fixed. You need to be a contornist!

This is the transmission in my car (also a 1966 MK3). Note the location of the inhibitor switch. It's easier to adjust if you remove the top cover of the trans tunnel...then you can make the required adjustments and also check the various selector detent positions from inside the car....although you can do it from underneath...but it might be quite grotty and oily!
