I agree. ^^
Incidently, have you see the fluid that's labelled up as meeting M2C-33G, AND Dexron Spec? I won't be buying any of that either, having had a very interesting conversation with someone trying to sell it to me at a car show a while back.

Not seen that one Harvey, I wonder how they tried to market / sell that?. I can imagine you tearing a strip off the salesman .

So what happens if I put M2C-33G spec in a rebuilt box?

Personally I would recommend you do so, rebuild or not. I know it is a hot potato subject and each to their own, but follow the instructions of whoever rebuilt it for you. The only fluid I suggest to use is the M2C-33G.
Technology has come a long way since the introduction of the Borg Warner and the fluid technology had to move along with it, the Borg Warner however won't like a lot of the fluids out there and it certainly won't like hydraulic oil as one customer of mine used in his box. M2C for me.
A good example of modern fluids outperforming the recommended is the ZF 22/24 D2/3 recommended, but from rebuild put in Mobil 1 fully synthetic or millers brand alternative and it will run a lot cooler the shifts are super smooth with service life extended by at least 3 times. Downside is the price!
