If you know of a suitable alternative to a water hose in the cooling system or heater circuit, please post the information here using a similar format.
Please post it even if it is repeated elsewhere on the forum.
If this thread ever gets beyond a handfull of posts (seems unlikely), I will edit the following post to include the other hoses.

Heater hose substitute: P5BEngine outlet pipe to heater unit hose. Rover Part No. 578079 The short 1/2" ID hook-shaped hose at the top end of the aluminium front/rear heater manifold that runs from the back of the inlet manifold to the heater inlet on the P5B. An identical hose in virtually every respect is ... 1990 - 1994 Nissan Patrol 4.2L 6-cyl. petrol (Carburetter) Thermostat housing to engine. Gates Part No. 02 - 0310

Good idea - I hope its just for demo though as its is not clipped on! I have had these hoses burst as the cooling system runs at quite a high pressure. The ones under the back seat can go unnoticed till its too late

Yes, just fitted for the photo Phil. This is what it looks like now as I have dispensed with the rear heater. A hose under the car failed halfway home from buying it and the isolation valve was seized open.

Thanks Kev, I agree about the paint but it's only temporary. The under-manifold steel pipe needs to be replaced, as does the flanged nipple on the rear of the manifold. It was a nightmare of reducers. The line to the heater tap was easy as it just needed a 3/4" to 1/2" copper reducer. The line from the manifold was not so easy. Fortunately I found a hose from a Ford Falcon that fitted the manifold outlet and then immediately reduced to 5/8" after a bend. Unfortunately it was about a metre long after that, so I didn't need much of it. The copper then had to reduce from 5/8" to 1/2" followed by a bend. It has to clear the aircon hose. When I get around to replacing the pipe under the manifold, I'll do the reduction and 1st 90 deg bend in it. The manifold outlet will be replaced by a brass or stainless one with a 1/2" nipple.
