I have a newish set from JRW and if you do a search you will see a picture of them. They are identical to the originals, and although i think JRW's prices come vat affairs are a little odd,I find myself agreeing with Dirk on this matter.

Big Kev. We are all entitled to our own opinion Kev The Y bushes you posted a picrure of back in Dec 2007 are Scotts and his prices on a metalwork exchange basis is £44.82 standard or heavy duty £92.64 plus postage and import duty which will be well over £100/£200 a pair as you have to post your old metalwork to Australia JRW does not list these now only the made up ones at £28 plus plus, you can but the same bobins they are made from for less than £8 a pair drill your own mounts after cleaning off the old rubber and still end up with something that will not last and risk failure

Hi guys,
I just purchase a set 2 weeks ago from JRW and I can't tell the difference from the orignals other then they appear newly made and with very good workmanship.
My comments before were not meant to discourage anyone from working on remanufacturing of Rover parts. But it seems that there are availible supply that is nearly as good as the orginals and it seems they are at a fair price.
I also feel if Jon at Wadhams was appoached with the idea of a bulk purchase he would respond with a fair discount.
Now if we could just get a supply of affordable exhaust systems.
Dirk in the states

Sorry John but on the evidence so far I'm with JRW on this one. My Y-bushes have been on the car 10 years + so far. His early replacements were a Volvo engine mount and didn't last very long at all, no doubt for the reasons articulated earlier. The last thing I want to do is to pour cold water on another member's enthusiasm for producing parts to keep our cars on the road - an enthusiasm I admire. I would only caution against proceeding with an item that might not prove commercially viable.

It's not a problem Peter if the interest is not there it's not there On the JRW site the price is £28 are they the original style if they are at that price they are a bargain the ones I have a Landrover engine gearbox mounts so not designed for purpose.

It is a shame that JRW doesn't attend shows that way we could handle the stock and see what it is like.

He did use to but he could not bring his entire range anyway and he can sell quite sufficient by his Mo and collection service

Just out of interest we may mock the charging of vat on packaging and postage, but its a practice that is common on a lot of sites and businesses.

Yes, I questioned that once but made enquires & confirmed it was legitimate & common practice. Doesn't make it morally right though.

Renewing the rear leaf springs on my P5B is looming so please count me in for a pair. I know someone with 1 original but from the replies, you seem to have covered this. Do you have a timescale for production yet ? Anyone any ideas about the round ones at the other end ? Regards, John A.

I think the impact of what we produce will have very little effect on JRW and he may not always be around If I can get good parts cheaper then rock on Tommy. btw I still have new bonnet wires at £24 a set. I am not making hardly any profit on these.

I haven't fitted my wires yet glenn. planning on getting them powder coated with the rockers etc but they look good.
I would be happy to buy anything from members who have made the effort to source better quality parts.

Re my rear leaf spring renewal; have been 'talking to a man' as they say and, he would like me to order another 3 pairs on his behalf - how are we doing on the numbers now ? Have run through the prev pages on this and, I am in favour of encouraging competition with Suppliers/Manufacturers. As has been said, you pays your money and takes your choice ! Kind Regards, John A. PS to GlennR; I will have a set of those under bonnet wires for my Coupe. Do you still have my 'phone number ?

Just to clarify the VAt on Carriage - not only is it a common practice its a legal requirement of the VAT regulations

The moral argument is the amount of the P&P in the first place: Extortionate
