Anyone know where I can get some touch up paint. I've tried JRW but no response yet.
Thanks

What about taking your car to Halfords. They can match the paint and even do it in a can.

Yep,halfords ... I've got some Zircon blue from there before, they can do it either as a touch up or a rattle can.

Thanks, I never thought of Halfords. We have a "superstore" not far away and I'll give them a try.

I gave Halfords a try and no luck. Very helpful but computer said no.
They could offer me a metallic Zircon Bue which I'm sure would look very nice but not at the moment!
I then went to a local factor who seemed to be able to make up the paint but had run out of "Fast Black" which is one of the four colours making up Zircon Blue. The others being White,Fast Blue and Permanent Green. The cost, a pricey £20 for 250mls!
Before I went out, I used search to double check the proportions of each ingredient but the late John Andrews (Dorset Flyer) had posted details of every colour except ZB!
The paint label in my car gives the Rover code for the paint and three numbers are given for 2oz, 1 pint and 1 gallon. They are 366591,366506 and 366507 respectively.
Did anybody retain the Halfords chitty so that they can supply a code or something that I can supply to Halfords?
Thanks in advance.

I have the bottle here,it has a label on it saying 'ROVER 5009' if that's any help? The Halfords I used (Redhill) had no problem at all.

There is no easy match for an old paint job expecialy Zurcon Blue as it tends to go more Green over the years If you have a "GOOD" Auto Trade paint supplier with a Spectrophotometer you will get a good match not 100%! but you may be lucky

Thanks, I'll try again.
Did you keep the invoice or go in with any specific info. My local Halfords couldn't even trace the colour. They said the BLVC code would have helped?

Thanks John. I'm only after touch-up paint for a few chips and I won't be ordering an aerosol as I know that wouldn't work at all.
At the moment, I've got nothing at all to use so for chip touch up purposes "near enough" will have to do.

The metalic Zircon Blue was probably the Austin Rover colour which went on SD1 etc

Right, probably talking to myself as usual but for anyone interested the Halford's code for Zircon Blue is Rover 5004.
The actual mix comes out a bit light for my car so I've bought the four base colours as well so that I can make up my own particular shade of ZB. Touch-ups are £1.99 each.

Bit late to this thread, but reviewed it whilst looking for the ZB colour code. To give some ideas for colour ranges, Google RAB colour codes and mine through to automotive colours. I found a close match to ZB came out at RAB 5001 and, with a willing mixer at my local motor factors, we managed a fairly close match. Probably won't stand close scrutiny for external, but a good match for 'hidden' areas. Hope this will, at least, give you a starter for ten in a colour search. Ken

Why not take either the whole car if driveable or else a panel to a paint supplier. Any paint supplier worth its salt will have a colour scanner and will be able to mix accordingly. My experience of this, with a number of colours both solid and metalic, has been very good. It is important to make sure the area of paint being sampled is properly cleaned.
