Cyf, we held the South East Rover Rally yesterday and a Dutch left hand drive P5 turned up. I noticed that it had a steel sunroof with a manual pull mechanism. Unfortunately I didn't see the owner but I did get some photos which I will put on here. I may be able to contact the owner if he is on our mailing list and I will let you know.

Many moons ago i viewed a Bordeux Red with silver birch coupe that i am pretty sure had steel sliding roof with electrical operation. It was stuck shut i beleive. It lived in Boston Manor/Brentford area but owner kept it over the Daimler V12 coupe he could have had...always wondered if roof was factory.

Hi All, I've joined this forum partly because I have a long standing interest in old cars (and almost bought one of these Rovers years ago..) - but mainly because I have one of these Hollandia sunroofs in a my car. It's an Australian 1967 Falcon GT which had the sunroof fitted in the early 70's apparently (pics of the sunroof below) After doing some googling I found this forum and the post about these sunroofs - and I can see that several Rovers had them fitted. Hopefully there are some people here who might have information about these early Hollandia sunrrofs or contacts for spare parts or seals? My sunroof is the manual sliding version and appears to be basically complete and in working order but I can't work out how the rear of the sunroof lid attaches to the sliding frame - there are a two small holes at the back corners but nothing on the frame to attach them to ? can anyone help with info on that? Has anyone been able to track down a contact for the original Hollandia business before they were taken over by Webasto? I'm hoping there's still someone/somewhere in Holland that still has some spares for these sunroofs ? any ideas/contacts? Thanks in advance, Paul

Hello Paul,
Welcome to the forum, the first person I would try is Peter Harvey peterharveysunroofs@tiscali.co.uk he worked for Webasto over here for many years and now works for himself from his workshop at home in Kent. He did a great job on my Webasto last year. If your search Peter Harvey Sunroofs you'll see a number of good comments about him from various classis forums.

If you do find out from him if seals are available then please post back on here! I tried contacting Webasto but they never responded sadly. For info recently there was a Rover P6 complete roof with a Hollandia roof fitted for sale on ebay. Was tempted as a source of spares but £250 seemed a little steep.. I desperately need a new seal for mine. In the meantime I was thinking about buying some rubber foam sheeting and carefully cutting to the appropriate size. I wonder if someone with technical/engineering ability wouldnt mind looking at this link? www.rubberco.co.uk/commercial-rubber-sheet-c-2.htmlEither VK#: 10-385 Commercial Sponge Rubber EPDM Linear Meter or VK#: 10-387 Sponge Neoprene Rubber Linear Meter Look like the most likely candidates. Im willing to order a couple of different ones to see which is best...but is anyone a foam rubber expert??!

Hello Cyd; I have the same assembly of sliding roof as you!
Mine has hand drive operation; I must entirely dismount it to treat corrosion! Is it necessary to dismount the windshield for this operation, like the trimming of the roof?? Thank you Stef

I believe "retirer" means disassemble. He wants to take the sunroof apart but he hasn't got a parts manual or information.
Stef,
Cette toit ouvrant ne monter pas en usine mais chez le distributeur. Cette pourgoui l'information n'est pas en pieces manuelle.
(The slidings roof was not fitted at the factory but at the dealers workshop so that is the reason there is no information in the parts manual)

If it helps the first thing you have to do is remove the headlining in order to in my case undo the 2 front sliding bracket screws, after that the roof just lifts up at the front and slides forward and up at the same time running along its rear runner until clearing the aperture, the rest is then clear in regards to how it works. Take notes and photos for reassembly as although simple it takes some working out if you forget the process. I got mine back in bits following someone else's efforts which made life harder. Good luck with it all.

Hi there,
I bought a Rover P5/B Coupe this year in the netherland. This P5 has a sunroof from hollandia, which is operated by hand. It is looking like the sunroof on your pics. It must be fitted in 1999 by Holland, because there is an invoice for the installation. Truly, you cannot see, that this Sunroof is fitted after years of production.
Best regads

I would love to have a period full length Webasto sunroof fitted to my saloon. Not sure where or who still does them today though.

Best bet is 'Sussex Trimmers, Lewes, Sussex. They have been fitting Webasto since the 195os. They have recovered 2 of mine on P6s.

Brendan a few years ago I used Peter Harvey to recover mine;
Company: Peter Harvey Sunroofs Address: 1 Stonar Gardens Sandwich Kent CT13 9LJ Contact: Peter Harvey Telephone: 01304 614412 Category: sunroofs Area scope: kent
I was delighted with the job he did. I loved having the sunroof but it was already in the car when I bought it, I don't know if I would put one in. Prior to refurbishment it used to allow rain in at the front and was quite noisy when closed. Brilliant open on a sunny day though.

Cheers guys. Yeah there are pro's and con's about having them albeit i just think they really suit the P5/P5B cars really well.
I bet the cost today to have one fitted will be 10 fold of its original back in the day price too.
