Howdy folks. It looks like I will indeed be joining the ranks of P5 owners in the coming weeks! With any luck I can avoid serious damage to my bank account.... Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone has scanned the Owners manual and/or service manual into an electronic format? It might help me get a leg up on some issues I'm bound to encounter, such as how to properly tune and HD carb, proper operation of the reserve fuel switch, etc. Anyone? Tom

Hi Tom welcome to the forum as far as I know it may be a copyright problem so has not been done! plus it is a very comprehensive and heavy manual. If you need a WS manual for a 3Lt I am sure you can find one easily

Tom, Good news one of the NZ clubs has put them on line; www.rover.org.nz/manuals/p54L2c/contents.htmI think they also have some of the drivers manuals. For a hardcopy I would try to locate one over there, postage from the UK will be ridiculous, they cost £8 to send within the UK. If you were coming over at some point pick one up over here then, if you fancied at trip to the National perhaps? The Club has new reprints see the regalia page, used opriginal copies are fairly easy to come by, I have a couple, if you're ever over I'll keep one for you.

Thank you all! IIRC, the car comes with the manual, but I need to double check!
In the meantime, I will peruse the online version, and scan my copy if I do indeed have one....

I have a good original 3lt manual in a cardboard sleeve not pristine but hardly been used stored for a long time! given to my by an old gentleman at a show saying "that may come in handy" If you send £10 to David (Admin) or Glenn (Editor) I will find out the cost of posting

I recall that this nation of ours went mad in the 60's with Time and Motion assessors with the mandatory clipboards! I wonder if any T&M Manuals were ever produced at that time which stated the official time assessed for repairs? Modern manufacturers computers state how long an operation should take - did previous generations have a similar system? Might be relevant where a garage states it took all day to change a wheel!

Well Eric when you take one of these old girls into a garage the young mechanics spend hours trying to find where to plug the computer in to tell them what the problem is....lol

I wonder if any T&M Manuals were ever produced at that time which stated the official time assessed for repairs? Yes, and I have a lot of the Rover times, which were fairly generous once you know how to do the job, not quite so easy if you've never done something before. That's the case with most of the times though. I always used to think they should time the bloke who did the mini head gaskets, when he was doing a set of Rover P6 rear calipers, and then vice-versa, to give a more reasonable expectation, and more cash for the trade......

Took the P5 to specialist dealer for tracking and wheel alignment etc but the operator cudnt start the car, so i started it, got out so he could drive it into the workshop! Squirting with WD40 = £3.10.6d - knowing where to squirt it £54 + VAT lol
