I just wish as with other forums I belong to and clubs I subscribe to that it would be simple to upload pictures without the need for all this re-sizing malarki. Seconded, I'm with you 100%.This is just sooo obnoxious. Sure keeps me from posting pictures. I tend to feel guilty all the time if I want to post one. And I'm sparing you guys from comments about this absolutely ¦%#&! forum software.

Not sure what politics and obnoxious has to do with it, but hey ho! If you save you pictures to an online library, then you can simply link your post to the picture using the 'insert image' option. The forum software will automatically resize the image to fit.

Thing is, how do you find a reliable 3rdP provider. Like with - what's its name, Photobucket? - all of a sudden them folks go crazy and dump the whole thing. And we're left with - what - broken links. No, thank you, sir!

I think what a lot of forum members may not understand is that if the quantity of data stored on the forum's server exceeds a certain amount, the club has to pay extra for it. Unfortunately, posting large photos directly onto it is a sure way of pushing that limit. The problem is that only a small proportion of forum users are club members, so David has to keep an eye on his budget. I lost all mine thanks to Photo_ucket. So I'm also wary of starting again with a new photo hosting site. Not to mention all the work needed to find all my old posts and figure out what the photos were.

Thank you Warwick at least some users understand I use the same a Vince postimages.org/ it works for me! What you need to understand though is SOME folk are NOT that good on a computer and I am one of those folk. I get by and that's about it. I have no desire at all to want to learn all about new fangled online stuff be it good or bad. That's my choice and I wont change for anyone so its nothing at all to do with how good we are online and how well we understand things too. Horses for courses. I for one am more than willing to pay say an annual FORUM fee of say £5 per member which is NOTHING if it ups the forum to allow normal size pictures from my files to be uploaded instantly without the need for all the techno re-sizing stuff and 3rd party hosts. I see absolutely no issues with this at all albeit some may not understand and or just be too tight to part with a fiver perhaps as ive seen on many other forums. It doesn't hurt to contribute a little in order that this forum can or could progress in that way. In fact on my other car club forum I actually upgraded to top status and paid a small fee for the privilidge. This now allows me to instantly upload as many pictures as I like for contributing to the cause. Is this something the admin/top brass on here can set up??? Another way maybe is for P5 owners club paid members to be granted unlimited forum access as part of our annual membership fee we pay and considering we get absolutely no discounts off any of the suppliers out there for parts at least get something else on top of being members of this elite owners club. Cheers

Cheers All the years I have been a moderator we have not had a problem only when Photobucket went down, it is so easy to find a hosting site why create more admin problems, there are so many none members on this forum and casual posters who would not want to contribute/pay anyway so those who contribute would be subsidising them! that would be another can of worms! You could make it a closed member only forum "BUT" that's not what we are about!! we have forum members from across the globe who are not club members who regularly contribute "thank you" if it aint broke why try and fix it

Ok John. It is what it is then. So be it. Brendan, The resizing software is a free download and you do it on your computer. Very easy to use and very useful for use on photos generally; not just for uploading directly onto the forum. For example, most cameras and phones now produce quite large jpeg files that don't always suit emailing, so reducing them is often necessary. If you are interested in having a go, I can step you through the process if you like. John's right about the complications caused by charging for forum membership; even a small amount. There are a lot of valuable contributors to this forum who are not club members and who would not see any value in paying for forum access - and they would simply drop off, and we'd all be the losers. I've seen it happen before on other sites. I understand your point. But the resizing or photo hosting solutions are actually quite simple and we can guide you through the setting up and using process. You will soon discover how useful they are for other purposes.

Lovely garage Brendan but as hard as I peruse the image I really can't see any evidence of oily hands, grease stains, spills from the parts washer or the bin for the used oil filters and such like. You're obviously the good looking one in the photo.

Cheers guys for the kind comments. Yes enigma I am the good looking one. LOL.
I keep my " mancave " as spotless as I possible can albeit I have got down and dirty in there on a few occasions BUT I always clean up all the mess afterwards. I had it built for me about 5 years ago now and I really planned it out. Fully heated, super insulated walls, floors and roof, velux windows x 3 with blinds, kitchen area and an en-suite shower/toilet room too, massive Tv and internet, soft chairs and the all important beer fridge along with all my memorabilia I collect and the all important 4 poster lift ramp with 2 x internal jacking beams with a 4 ton max lift which is ample.
Electric insulated roller door, alarmed and CCTV everywhere. LOL. When the missus winds me up I just go in there or my bar. LOL.
