Well, the camping P5 is really not my cup of tea. Who are those men Stan? (French member inside) Talking of unknown celebrities on this side of the Channel, I first heard of Jimmy Savile yesterday and they showed some pictures of him. And what did I saw? A rover P5 in the background when he was made a Sir (I think it's in an ITV program) No idea just stole it from Google images! We dont talk about JS - everyone thought he was a saint but the b@&&$$!! turned out to be the devil in disguise! Just as well he is dead really! Those poor kids.

Now what was it I was saying in the other thread about badge engineering and messing around with the original Austin 1800 body design.

I thought Rover owners appreciated a nice car !! It is an Austin 3 litre. Introduced about the same time as the P5b. The doors are Landcrab but the front and rear were different. It was powered by the 6 cylinder engine that was also used in the MGC and Austin Healy, driving the rear wheels. I had one a few years ago and named it Uriah. I sold it before the MOT ran out !

Interesting! The P5B at Gaydon has the reg JGY 280 so it must have been transferred from the P5 to the P5B at some point. It is possible therfore that someone is running around in HM's old P5 and doesn't know it.

d**n it is there no shame from those cowboys at 'Classic car rescue'. That is very obviously a cut and shut job! They go to all the effort of lining the side trims up and then can't even get the colour match right!! Must also have dual control as the driver must look forward and the passenger must be the one to check the blind spots as they have the mirror!!!

I didn't know the Checker Marathon was sold in the UK. It looks like what I would have excepted had BMC taken over Rover and Humber.
