If it is any help, I have been trialling the new springs now on offer from BCC (see Take Five) and they are proving great!
The car's ride height is now correct and the comfort of ride has been re-established. Driver only or all four up and some luggage, the ride is just the same smooth ride as a Rover should be, a great improvement on the HD springs that are sold as new nowadays.
I recall my first P5 Saloon back in the early Seventies and from memory it is how I remember it, and in those days it was my daily drive covering some 40+k miles a year!
incidentally I now have a set of the HD springs - used for about 1000 miles only and a set of older springs that are a little tired but still very useable (I only changed them because when towing a heavy old classic caravan the car sagged a little).
I need to clear my workshop so offers invited; to collect.

It has come to my notice that there have been numerous derogatory remarks on these Rear Springs, mainly in ignorance.
The spring pattern, style and construction used was from a standard P5 car, the specs were from OEM listings found in Rover Archives.
There was a comprehensive and complete testing of the springs with all loads and road surfaces taken into account, all is documented and kept within the club and the manufacturers own records.
BCC Springs and Suspension would have adhered to these standards if not improved on them.
Yes they may be a few pounds dearer than the competition, but they are correct for the UK car.
I am still running my P5 Coupe on these springs on all types of journeys either solo or fully loaded including towing a classic caravan, and have not found any issues with them at all, unlike the previous "new" springs that were so stiff they made your fillings drop out! Serious and constructive comments or even criticism is always welcomed, petty bitching and sour grapes NEVER.

Well said Chuck. They are actually manufactured by Owen Springs Ltd and proudly carry a 'Made in Sheffield' label. Look up their website, they are regarded as the premier company producing leaf springs in Britain.

From personal experience, the springs from BCC are awful:
Buy the new ones from Wadhams.

Jens,
Did you go back to BCC with your complaint?
Did you get a response?

Mike, Thanks I've found that.
But I can't see that Jens ever did make contact with anyone to explain in BCC?
...Jens if your still there, did you get any explanation?
Thanks Ray

They have lots of springs listed on their website for other models all of which are sold direct.

No explanation at all. The couple of times I talked to somebody there, they didn't care and I always had to talk to somebody who wasn't there for the moment. They never replied emails - neither to me or even to PayPal.
Trust me, it's my worst online order experience ever! The only positive thing is that they didn't bother responding to PayPal either making it easy to get my money back that way.
Well, months after I had received my refund through PayPal and I regarded the case closed, somebody from BCC called me and suggested to replace one of the springs. He was only aware of my initial complaint and didn't know of any of my subsequent attempts to get hold of them and even that I had been fully refunded. I offered to return the springs at their expense, but he never got back on that either.
My strong advice is to stay away from them if you want to avoid troubles.
