Did anyone else make it to the Goodwood Revival this year? What a great show!!
I met up with fellow club member Rob Brown with his 1959 MK1 and we convoyed over to Goodwood at about 6.45am. We were rewarded with really close parking in the tax exempt car show (classic car car park!) and ended up having an AC Cobra parked up alongside, with a Healey 3000 behind and a huge range of classics all around! I could have spent all day looking around the car park (easily 5-10,000 classics parked out there) but I had to be strong and restrict my interest to the show. From what I saw there was everything from 1920s Blower Bentleys (several!) to Alphas to E types to Yanks.. Everything you can think of!
Amazing-Amazing day!!
I'll pop a few pics up later when I get home.
I saw Hurst Park with Ubiquitous P5B coupe for 15k as well which sold on the saturday morning. Anyone here?? Apart from that I didnt spot any other P5s (mine and Robs seemed to attract an awful lot of interest) there were several P4s, including a rally version with plates from the Paris to Peking rally.. looked like a serious bit of kit!
Walking around the show there were plenty of displays with old and some newer concept vehicles plus of course the actual racing and the WW2 Warbirds airshow that was put on. Sadly I missed the 2 Lancasters in the Battle of Britain flypast because it was delayed due to technical difficulties but oh well.. So much to see, I really cant describe it all here..
Top tips if you want to go next year.. 1) arrive for 7.30 to avoid traffic 2) pack your own food and drink! Sausage sarny for £6.30 anyone?! 3) Wear comfy shoes 4) Dress in period costume- you really look out of place if you don't! 5) Book early!
