Hi Guys I have just joined the Club, so I thought you might like to see some pictures of my P5B which is about to come out of the paint shop having had a bare metal respray. The car is Burgundy and Silver Birch, it is a 3 owner 68000 mile car with a lot of history. The car when stripped was virtually rust free which is why I bought it 4 months ago. It has joined my collection, I have 9 Classics all 1960's cars. The last owner of the car 'hammed' it up a bit and I have had quite a bit of minor mechanical work done. I will need to renew the carpets and re-foam all the seats, the leather is in great condition. I will probably have the Rostyles re-chromed next winter by MWS whom I have dealt with before, the wheels are OK but may let the side down when the rest of the car is finished. I tend to run my classic cars every day, except in salty conditions and hold regular Classic Car meetings at my business in Hampshire. My website is www.whitelionantiques.co.uk there are some great shots on there. Our next meeting is on Sunday 15th Feb with the featured marque being Rover! They run 8-12 and we usually get 100-200 cars. I will see if I can add a couple of pictures as attachments, I am not very good at this computer stuff. Jerry

Hi
Thanks for the welcome. The car should be fitted up this week, hopefully to be collected at the weekend. I will put some more photos on here when I get it home.

Hi I got the car back from the paint-shop on Friday and spent yesterday de-paint shopping it which was 12 hours hard slog. I am very pleased with the job they did although there are some niggling problems to sort out. The car was seen this morning by some members who attended my Classic Car Breakfast meeting in Hartley Wintney, we had over 200 cars attend and at least 30 Rovers, I think at least 6 of these we P5's. My car now needs the seats re-foaming and the foot well carpets replacing in the front if I can match up the colour, otherwise it will be a complete new set from Wadhams which will be a shame as the existing ones are original. I also need a n/s front side light, any ideas on that one please? Glen is having some sill trims done so that will take care of those. I must say when I left home this morning in the Coupe at 7-15am the roads were quiet and it was a real pleasure to drive, hustling it round some sweeping bends on my way to work it felt really comfortable at 65/70. Although I have 8 other classics I can see I am going to have real love affair with the Rover, my Grandfather had two new ones in the 60's and I have always liked them although it has taken ages to find a good one that was not rusty and with good history. If anyone wants to see pictures of this mornings meeting, I have loaded them on my website which is www.whitelionantiques.co.uk look under the Classic Car section. Many thanks again to those members who came along to support us, next meeting 8th March. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

There are a couple of complete side lamp units on Ebay at the moment but are very expensive. Do you need the whole unit as it's usually the bulb holder assembly that rusts through?

Hi
Yes the main part of the lights ok just the insert and holder, unfortunately the 'painter' has fillered the bulb in and although its working for sure it will be a problem soon.

Where we would purchase the latest cassettes of our favourite artists, only on our return home we would have to remove the cassette from the player as it had “chewed up”. Also had the pleasure of meeting Geoff, the chairman of the Rover P5 club who had some encouraging words of my car & also some advice regarding the window rubbers that have perished after forty five years. I was very lucky that I was able to just squeeze in, great selection of cars. Also what a great selection of various antiques in the shop. Regards Porky Attachment Deleted

Sorry i missed the Hartley event due to being brakeless! I purchased Scott rubbers from David Green nine years ago and am very satisfied with them as i was warned against Asian or east European ones. clips and screws are a nightmare but i had front/back screens fixed by ace-mobilewindscreens.co.uk/ but the work was done in the workshop. A contact for salvage parts might be martin.day330@ntlworld.com
