Richard, There are 2 special washers underneath the manifold bolts which have a small hole to fit the spring. I believe your spring is not the right one being too long. Peter Hi Peter, yes I have the washers with the spring hole, located under the third-from-rear manifold bolts, as per the manual. They align perfectly for the carburetter springs. I also have new springs from Wadhams, which were identical to the ones already fitted, so I'm sure they're the right length. But the washers are still too near the accelerator pivot point on the manifold to pull the cable back with any force, and in fact it actually assists the throttle opening slightly over the last ½ travel. As the accelerator pivot lever is directly linked to the kick-down lever, it makes sense to me that the spring mounts there instead - mine was missing this, hence the soggy accelerator pedal.

Used to be cheaper. But they were well made, Ian only got things re manufactured if he could do it right.
Mine has done a few thousand miles will out complaint.
They should also have the air filter locating gromits which are nice to have.

'Kick-down lever bush' arrived today and fits very well. I was surprised that it's so soft - it is basically a shaped grommet, so I'd expect it to wear very quickly, but we'll see. Can't help thinking nylon or brass would be better, but if it's the same as the factory fitted then at least it's original! Also fitted a spare spring from the carb on the kick-down lever - seems about the right length. I'll see how it all works at the weekend.

Mine has been fitted for over 6 years and haven't seen any wear.
There isn't really any pressure on the bush and it only supports the end of the road and the kickdown cable.
The bronze bush on the manifold has to deal with the load from the carbs and the accelerator cable. I recon if it needed a tougher bush rover would have made it that way.

True. It fitted fine and I refitted the kick-down bracket today - all seems to work well.

From above. From behind ( courtesy of CYF ) you can see where the bush should go ( red circle ) and how the spring is set up. ( the blue square shows the kick down cable ) Does anyone have the part number for the spring in the picture please OOOOH Andy an AED

I will have a look in the parts book, but I doubt it will help you find one from a supplier.
Places like machine mart etc sell packs of springs, I am sure you could find one to do the job just as well.

The spring isn't shown in the P6B parts book that I've got.

V8pete, I'm confused. This is a 2 year old thread. Are you looking for a cable? You didn't actually say anything.
