I bought this radio from ebay some time ago and I have put the code in but keep pressing all the buttons but it will not take the code. Has anyone an idea what buttons I need to press? it's a 1994 Blaupunkt set and you can see on the flap for the tape it says Rover so it came from a Rover car .The code I have put in is correct.

Sometimes these systems need to be 'divorced' from the car first? This usually involves a dedicated laptop/software system. Not sure wht Rover did at that time, but hopefully someone may be able to offer better advice.

Usually the four digit code is entered by the first four buttons, ie, number 1 for the first code number, number 2 for the second code number.......... Then number 5 when when all done. Say your code is 7682, then the first number on the radio face "1" must be pressed 7 times, the second number "2" must be pressed 6 times to enter the next number....... You get the idea. Try that.

Thanks yes I put the code in ok but what do I press then. Nothing seems to work.

On some models like Ford, once the correct code is entered the radio comes on, some models you have to press the next number button. Could be the wrong code, I have a rover cassette player here from my old Tourer, you are welcome to that should yours not work for you.

The seller tells me the code he gave me is correct.

Thanks the trouble is I think it is correct as it is on the case of the set twice and one looks like an original label. The cost is £8-99 per code.

I suspect the radio is not acknowledging the attempt to enter the code. If the code was incorrect and it was 'accepting' the attempt to enter the wrong code it would go into a failsafe mode after a set number of incorrect entries. Typically it would allow 3 attempts and then shut down for a period of time (e.g. 1 hour). Then it would allow 3 more goes and shut down for a much longer period (days, rather than hours) and so on... I believe the same radio is in my dad's 416 Tourer but I won't be able to look in the handbook for the model specific info until Sunday. I will report back in due course.

Sorry Norvin, the radios covered in my dad's 416 handbook are completely different. No point explaining the procedure because the punchline is that the radio accepts the code as soon as the final number is entered...
