I have done a small mod and installed an internal light. It was originally from a Ford Scorpio that I had previously and I think it works quite well. I have a dark headlining and have sprayed the plastic mount of the light black. The picture has been lightened to show it. I have also fitted a very subtle digital temperature gauge to tell me acurately the water temp. I find this invaluable as we all know the original can's be trusted. I have also slightly modded the wiper arms and flexed a small curve into them. They now sit nicely at the bottom of the windscreen. They are not perfect as the crossover is not perfect. While doing them I did find that a lot of travel was being taken up with loose pivots and pins etc. I was wondering of others have done any other small mods to "slightly" modernise their Rover as for instance I find the internal lighting inadequate. Would be interested in seeing pictures of any other small mods. Cheers Colin

I very much prefer originality to the extent that I have spent a hundred hours or more saving the original leather front seats on my 3 litre, and rebuilt the Girling Mk II booster.
However, my other car, 1955 90 which I drive most days, also has to be practical. So I have done the following:
- installed 7w SMD LEDs in the sidelights for daytime running - a warning buzzer for lights left on - headlamp relays hidden under the fan guard with heavy duty cable direct from the horn relay - pertronix points - MP3 / FM player to work through the HMV radio, hidden in the glove compartment - quenching diodes on the fuel pump and clock to make the points last longer - 1 uF capacitor close to coil -ve supply, another to the dynamo, third to the regulator field coil output. - LED bulbs to the map light and clock backlight (can now see the time at night too)
None of which is very obvious on a cursory glance.

The one modification I would like to do would be to fit a hazard warning light system.
These days, it's a universally accepted way of saying "I'm in trouble/broken down" or "there's a problem" or even " I'm about to park somewhere which is totally illegal but, no probs, I'm showing my hazards!"
I'm sure to the auto- trickery expert guys on here it's reasonably easy update to do.

Dead easy if you are familiar with basic auto electrics - I have fitted same system to all our classics + rear fogs to some of them. Other than radial tyres and relay to headlight switch I see no need to upgrade anything else

My upgrade list is electric fuel pump and inertia switch (done), hazards, headlamp relays, rear fog light and (maybe, discreetly) a high level brake light. Apart from the fuel pump and inertia switch the others have been pushed down the to-do list by more pressing things, but they'll get done eventually.

Thanks.
