No chance! The bikes I was on Vincent's,Douglas & BSA Bantam. The Vincent could? on a good day achieve 98mph and that is with 1000cc engine. The bikes are to fast for me now,And the gears are on the wrong side. It was the 1950,s

Yes Kev I wished I had kept mine. But then I could say the same thing about my cars which would be in excess of 50. The first being a Ford 10. Several Jaguars. Mk IIV.II,s E type, S type. There was even Rover Mk 1 in there somewhere.
But am sure there are other members who can tell a simular story.

Yep, me too, one of the better things about getting old as you can afford more toys. None of them cost as much to keep on the road as the bloody P5B though....
Left to right, 1975 Moto Guzzi T3 with Le mans 1 engine, sounds like a Lancaster bomber. 2014 Norton Commando 961, sounds like a Spitfire Merlin on full chat, awesome. 1995 Harley Road King, which sounds like a fat American dentist.
My favourite is the Norton, totally out of this world, superb. Apart from every where you go, people take pictures of it...

Used to be and that's why I did not bother with my car test till I was almost 21. Eventually sold my 3 year old Suzuki GT250 in 1978 as fed up with getting cold and wet or coming off it at speed and sliding down the road. Rebuilt (twice) my 1957 James Cadet 150 in the early 1970's as used to go and forward from Nottingham to Salford University regularly
Used to fix up all my dads cars for years before that and could drive them of course and learnt my mechanics on his Triumph and AJS motorbikes he had up to 1965

I am also "from the biker scene". Had my first bike, a Suzuki T500 at 18 and got my car license when i was 26 and then bought my first car. Since 18, i have always had a motorbike. Now i have a BMW R90S, a Laverda 750S and a bevel-drive Ducati 860GTS. I restored all 3 and own the BMW and Laverda over 20 years and the Ducati over 10 years now. Never had an English bike but my most favorite bike is a Vincent 2 cylinders but these are so expensive now a days. Peter

Biking became a taboo subject in my family following the instant death of my cousin and her husband of a few weeks in a head on collision in Cornwall in the 1950's.
I only messed around on a friends bike when I was a teenager but I've been on the back of a few.
It's never held any attraction for me but I was never encouraged to take much interest after that accident.

Its lovely hearing you youngster's talking about your bikes. But unfortunately I am from another era. Phil, I can relate to your Dad's Bike's At least I am still able to contribute ? to the forum. My P5B is the longest I have ever owned a car. Its coming up to 30 years now. I think the only thing that keeps me young at heart is my partner my & my daily driver, an XF RS Sport. But I love posing in the Rover. That feeling will never go away.

No pics I'm afraid, but the highlights include Fizzy, Yam YR5, RD400, RD250LC/350LC, Kwaka Z650, Rickman Kawasaki Z1000 Turbo, Suzuki GSX750 & GSX1100 Katana. The only ones I'd really like back are the Katana and the RD400, oh and maybe the Elsies...... Back in the day I was a bit of a headbanger, well according to the nurses in the Brands Hatch Medical Centre I was, they showed no sympathy for me whatsoever......

I used to be but haven't ridden for some time. I used to have B. S. A 650 twins and a Royal Enfield 750. I remember being on the end of a convoy of bikes overtaking a column of scooters heading down to Yarmouth. As we went past we shouted and waved and cut in as close as we could. (Remember the mods and rockers rivalry? ). As I gunned the throttle on my Beeza the chain broke and as I coasted to a halt I watched my mate's vanish into the distance. The scooter riders soon caught me up. I soon wished they hadn't.

Bought my dream bike in 2011 - the one I had a poster of
Chopped in my lovely super tenere to get it but glad I did. Although it's horrible by modern standards I still get shivers when I see it!
