That's good news about your extended rebuild Warwick....and Peter that's a fairly common figure for LPG if you don't tweak the ignition curve and static advance. You may find that the static advance can go to as much as 20°, but then need to backoff the distributor centrifugal advance to 4°, which gives 8° at the crank for a total of 28°. You want this all in by 2800 - 3000 rpm. This works very well if LPG is the primary fuel. It will also deliver very strong low down torque and the engine will rev out nicely but it won't suit petrol. This optimizes the fuel burn characteristics of LPG so the engine won't run any hotter or be down on power as it will be with an incorrect ignition curve. Also the vacuum advance should be plugged or disconnected for LPG.
Oh...and for anyone with a 10.5:1 compression engine still in their P5B, it's perfect for LPG. No pinking or detonation and very smooth running.

Barry I wanted the same type of filler as Peter has used on my Honda but it wouldn't have passed the LPG inspection for the safety certificate in the UK! if you don't get the certificate you will be unable to insure also the DVLA will need a copy so it is classed as Dual Fuel Regulations differ so worth a check whatever you do
