Hi My coupe is experiencing a misfire/splutter at around 40ish MPH . After about 20 mins of driving it seems to get a little better but when I give it some throttle it will splutter. When stationary I give it some throttle and at around 4000rpm it splutters/ misfires. Iif I give more throttle and take it past 4000rpm it seems to be a little better but doesn't seems strong. Could it be Plugs, Ht Leads or mucky fuel filter? Thx v much

All the above buddy. Back to basics. Start from the beginning Points,Plugs then fuel. Backfire through carbs could be mixture.

How are your brakes? Missfire can be due to the power booster leaking and sucking brake fluid into the inlet manifold. I went through all the options until I discovered this. The characteristic is similar to what you describe. Check for blue smoke from the exhaust, have someone follow you and observe what occurs at the speed where the problem occurs.

Do you use fuel with ethanol? If so that's your issue. It seems from what you've stated that the issue arose after a period of non use (10 days.

That's good to know. Have you used fuel with ethanol in your Rover at any time recently? If you never have you can discount it.

Forget the ethanol. It does not cause battery low voltage which your other post clearly describes - and in any event I think Enigmas is far away where the fuel is very different - here in the UK with only , generally speaking , 5% ethanol maximum it rarely causes any problems

Hello to you all,
I am a new French member of roverP5 club. We intend to restore my daughter's 3,5L, sleeping in my garage in the French Alps for some years. Moreover, I have two classic Ranges in my barn.
Actually I live in Portugal, and will go to France for one week to put the 3,5L on the road, so that it can drive to South West of France. The restoration will continue there
Thanks in advance for your help to solve some present issues.
I mean I remember that when I drove the car one year and half ago, the brakes calipers were someway jammed, which from time to time blocked the whells in front or rear drive. Is it possible to clean and repair ? I have looked on Bigg Red website for the availability and price of calipers but they sell only to UK. They redirect foreign customers to some adress on facebook which does not run ...
Waiting for the good solution, could I first recuperate and fit the calipers of my Ranges on the 3,5L ?
Other mechanic question : the fuel reserve tap no longer exists : how to tebuild it ? Would it be a good solution for more safety to fit an electric gas pump as the one fitted on the Range with a by pass between both systems ?
Many thanks.
Best regards.

Hi radonege, yes anything is repairable if you have the skill, inclination and the patience for the task. No, Range Rover calipers just don't bolt on. Fit a Facet electric pump. Look here for the parts you require unless you are a very able mechanic? www.jrwadhams.co.uk/browse-p5-categories

If you have a spare Range Rover pump for the 3.5L carburettor engine, or if you want to standardise on your spare parts, you can use one on the P5B. They are very good pumps. Also a lot quieter than a Facet.
