The top section also needed attention so this was cut out as well. A repair section was fabricated, this is a quick shot just after being prepared for welding. And this is after being welded, dressed and painted. The outer box section can now be obtained but i will wait to get this in my hands before i decide how far i need to cut back the remaining rust pitting. More soon Woz

Seems a pity not to incorporate the jacking mounting in the rebuilt section and its absence will be obvious. Maybe to some, no point paying out and installing things that will never be used i wont miss them

Spent the last few visits starting to repair the d post area, this side had quite a bit more rust lower down in the splash panel and around the seat belt mount. Made and welded in this section Next was to repair this small hole in the chassis before the new splash panel is installed.

Made up this panel with my new stretcher to repair a small amount of rust in the rear wheel well just behind the d post. Repaired this section just to the right of the rear seat base between the d post and sill Also spent a bit of time preparing the new catch panel. Made up the extention as per the original and seam welded this to the panel ( small shaped piece on the right ). Then i removed the old captive nut plate from the old catch panel and transfered this to the new, plug welding this into position. More soon Woz

Spent the last couple of days installing the new catch panel and d post. I have taken time to blend the two together so minimal bodyworking is required. Im not sure whether i am going to lead these repairs as per original, i will decide at a later date. Here is a quick picture of the inner d post closing panel dressed back and coated ready for body work. I wanted to check the fit of the replacement rear wings i got from ebay, these are original and in perfect order. This is what it looks like , chuffed to bits. Woz.

Very nice work and impressie progress!. I did the leading of the area near the catch panel and the d-post and i understand your thoughts as acces with a file is very difficult and the lead easily drips of . I can remember i produced a symphony of cursus leading that area. Rear wing looks like it fits well but final judgement can be doen with the door next to it.

Agreed, really good 'home' restoration. That's a lot of metal you have chopped out and replaced there. Nice work.. Must pop over sometime when you are there

Had a bit of time over the last couple of days to finish off the repairs over the wheel well. Cut out and scratch built this panel complete with the new captive nuts, plug welding this in place around its perimeter. On the whole this is finished apart from some weld dressing and final bodyworking. Woz.

Wanted to repair this small section of rust in the rear inner wing top. This pic shows the rust and all the spot welds in the top flange drilled out. I fabricated this small repair section Here it is welded in place ready for final finishing. Next on to the lower edge rust repair and boot corner, getting close to the rear now?

nice repairs! I replaced the entire panel which took a lot of time to get it right. I also made the recessed area's in the panel. Its nice to have a entire fresh panel but it took a fair amount of time and replacing the rusted area's would have saved a lot of time
Keep up the good work as you must be close to the end now

Made up a new repair section Then i cut out the remaining rust in the wheel well and made a repair section for this also.

I went to visit Wozzer at the weekend hidden away in deepest sussex countryside. He's doing a good job rescuing another P5 that would definitely have ended up going around the track. Nice guy too
