Back on to the front of the car to carry out the last repairs on the inner wing. Here are a couple of pics of the damage and the started repairs. Next steps will be the installation of the new box section and the upper splash apron

I have Been trying very hard not to over restore the coupe but to try and keep as much of the original paintwork as possible . The engine bay has been looking very worse for wear, especially on the drivers side, so this has been my focus for several weeks along with the painting of the front floor repairs. All the repairs have now been filled and etch primed ready for primer. The engine bay will be painted in original Bordeaux red, the floors and inner wing panels will be painted with Schutz ready for the chassis to be refitted.

Very nice patch work Wozzer. Interestingly I note that in your Dec 2016 posting you showed filling in of a hole used for an aerial. I am planning to do just the opposite because I need to fit an aerial to my car for the radio. I can't tell if that hole was near the front windscreen or the rear one. Here in the US it is not at all common to fit aerial to the roof as they do in England. Does anyone have suggestions on the best place to fit an aerial on the body of the car, or other suggestions?

Cheers Ken Aerials are usually fitted so they are fairly easy to hook up, I must admit I prefer them on the roof because I think they look better. The one I took off of my rover was on the rear scuttle just behind the rear screen. Good luck W.

I think the reception is better on the roof, they are much easier to fit and far less susceptible to vandalism.
The only downside is that if they are angled up too much they can foul car park barriers especially in the of the low height multi stories. Our sometimes catches on our garage doors reversing out if I have moved it up slightly washing it.
My dad's old 1951 Standard Vanguard had an internal knob on the screen header rail that swivelled down in line with the central windscreen divider - neat!
There would, however, be room to fit an electric automatic one behind the front wing splash panel but far more trouble as it involves at least undoing the bottom wing mounting bolts if they had not rusted out

Thanks Phil and Wozzer. I'll have to do some more investigating from under the front fender. I think that an older car here in the States would look more "proper" with a fender mounted aerial than on the roof. Likewise the right front fender would be the standard mounting location.

Another fairly productive day, I managed to get the front floor and sill repairs coated in stone chip. Then I managed to tape and stone chip both inner wings which now means I can reinstall the chassis. Once done all the new front suspension can be reinstalled for the last time which means I'm getting somewhere.
