The map pockets alone needed re-covering. That was with velour from Wadhams. The work was exceptionally challenging as sewing the pockets inside out led to some counter-intuitive shapes.
I had to reinforce and repair parts of the cards that had suffered from damp. A dilute PVA based glue works for this.
The imprinted oil cloth covering the cards, I left intact. Long sections needed re-restitching where the cotton stitching had rotted. Those I did by hand with an awl. I then used the same leather colouring and finishing materials to renovate the oil cloth.
