I've attached my images. There these two relays coming off the top of the transmission. One with a slide switch. www.dropbox.com/sc/rpn577jt9kynfmj/AABDw-4hNrrXkyhJdZNv63W3a::edit:: also as a reference, I am using a barebonz GM hot rod wiring set up. And both the new harness and old schematic, don't match up.

I'm seeing its engaged in reverse. The other seems to be for overdrive. What I can't seem to find is the neutral safety switch. Could that be on the top of the Tmission? I'm being hard pressed by the upper to just "get it started" so any help ( as I am not familiar with this type of vehicle) would be greatly appreciated.
Ive gotten as far as connecting the dyno, the starter and solenoid a that correspond. I've added a relay to the fuel pump because as the reserve pump failed, I've wired the one working pump into both sides of the column switch. I'm sure I'm missing a good amount to (just get it started). Like the neutral safety switch.

The poor rover caught fire so when I got to it, there was nothing left for reference.

I presume this is a BW35 auto box?
I am not familiar with the BW35, but a guess is that these are both interlock switches, not relays. One will close on putting in reverse, the other in Park / Neutral. Check them with a continuity tester while changing gear.

It would help to know what car we are talking about . I am guessing that it has a manual box because of the reference to overdrive. If so, there will be no " neutral safety switch" . If it is a Rover with either a DG automatic, or a later BW35 auto box, then the inhibitor switch is on the left hand side of the box in the case of the BW35 ( I can't remember where it is on the DG )
Given, however, that the original post suggests that some kind of bodged up loom is being used, the chances of usefully advising which wire goes where are virtually nil

The first pic shows the same switch as used for the reversing lights on the manual P6, so I'd say it's pretty safe to assume it carries out the same function here, and as overdrive was mentioned, I'd say the second pic shows the switch that isolates the overdrive in either reverse, or first and second.

I've got a few more pictures to show where I'm at with the vehicle. It's become a huge pain because she doesn't seem to want to start up. I know on classic American cars there's not many relays to go thru to hear it crank but I feel like I'm missing something because the rover continues to spark when the battery terminal is connected, as if there's a load on it. Any way, thank you for your help. Here are the photos. www.dropbox.com/sh/nef2an2tk07jij4/AACn6DWyGLpL59VlMfasRKSfa?dl=0
