May be of help to some but I have always had trouble with the starter not being very positive and at time nothing when you turn the key. Took the starter out the other day - what a pig of a job - and found that the one end of the solenoid coil where it is soldered was a very dodgy solder. So de-soldered the two soldered joints, removed the top cap and cleaned up the solder areas and re-soldered the coil back into the solenoid. So far, it has been very positive, enters the ring gear better and works every time. I also sorted out the right hand manifold and exhaust leak on the pipe under the engine. While I was there I made a bracket to secure the metal petrol pipe from the tank. Flapping about all over the place which is just what you don't want. Cheers Colin

Its worth pointing out that you can buy the solenoids on their own, I replaced mine a year or so back. Also removal is much easier if the solenoid is removed first,then the body of the starter,reversing the procedure makes it easier to replace too.
