A little help please. I took the old girl for a run just after Christmas (most enjoyable), unfortunately the rear screen misted up due to the very low temperature. I checked the supply to the switch which was good, 12v. My fear is that having had both screen rubbers replaced a few years ago and the headlining and seats recovered the screen connections may be broken. I need some help in locating the route of the cables to the rear screen and the point at which the cables connect to the element, before I start to pull everything apart (picture would be nice). I am trying to use my 68 P5b all year round therefore a working heated rear screen would be of use rather than leaving the quarter lights open.

A 68 should have the fine wire elements and the connectors are at the top of the screen centre, the terminals are very brittle often broken off if not careful when removing the old seal

Well here I am again. Two years on and still no heated rear screen. Body work and auto box took priority. I have lifted the o/s/r seat to expose the wiring to the rear heater. I have found a cluster of wires, Black (earth) and a Brown and yellow (supply). not connected but close to the cluster is a single cable, not coloured, that runs under both rear seats and up the n/s/r post. Could this be the supply cable for the heated rear screen? If so this could be a quick fix. Any thoughts.

Hi John the Brown and Yellow go to the heater motor with the Black which is earth, the single wire BN and W sound ok if its a fine wire demister? Should have said B & W

Thanks John, do you think that plugging in my single wire into the brown and yellow connector give me a supply to the rear window?
A wiring diagram would be useful, am I right in saying that members can have access to a diagram?

Brown/ yellow wire goes to the rear screen heater. It is usually run separately to the rear loom as it was an optional extra.

Brown/ yellow wire goes to the rear screen heater. It is usually run separately to the rear loom as it was an optional extra. According to the ever right Wiring Diagram its a Black and White feed to the "Heated Backlight" this is transformed from Brown and Yellow through a Bullet connector

Well my Brown / Yellow connects directly to the screen heat tag.

Well my Brown / Yellow connects directly to the screen heat tag. I am sure your right Sam there are loads of discrepancies throughout the WS manual

Hi there, just coming to terms with p5b ownership... My workshop manual arrived today. Skimming through it I can find no reference to a heated rear screen, although there is one fitted. Questions: Is it standard or optional? Where is the switch? My lower console has two pull switches, one of which is for fog lights and the other may be for demister, but there’s another click switch (seemingly after market). My car is 1968 LHD no. 46 off the line😁

The heated RS was an optional extra and apart from reference in the wiring diagram that is it. There should be only one pull switch + cig lighter as standard + and extra pull switch with a white telltale in its knob on the lower console. All the wiring and switch was fitted on if HRS was ordered
