As both of my front seats had siezed solid in all three aspects and afforded me no adjustment at all, I thought I'd take each one out, repair/service and put back. I did the passenger one first which, due to being used less, turned out to be the worst of the two. The job as usual turned out to be something of a bear to accomplish. The worst was the reclining mechanism - siezed to the extent that it took two of us, a strong vice, a monkey wrench and some deep thinking just strip it down. Glad to say all went well eventually. I found the workshop manual helpful but also confusing and still cannot understand one or two of the instructions it gives. If anyone is attempting this, I do have some photos that may help and am glad to assist via e-mail if required. Oh, the joys of a fully adjustable driver's seat!

My seats have been tampered with in the past. During my ownership they have never returned to the upright position under their own steam and it's one job I keep putting off! Cheers Adrian

Freddy, if all else is okay then they may not have been torque loaded on their last re-assemble. I reckon it can be done in situ. With both right and left triangular chrome finishers removed, you can get at the rod and load it to bring the seat back to the upright position.
