Hello, I did look on the previous topics but I couldnt find one relating to this, but on my P5B Coupe, the seat part of the driver and passengers seats although looking quite presentable, are rather hard and uncomfortable. I was wondering if anybody knew how easy it would be (or if possible) to re-stuff the front seats so they would be more squashy, and a method of doing so- perhaps somebody has done it before? Also, the construction of the seats is such that (more evident on the drivers seat) on the side of exit where you would brush the seat corner getting in and out, the leather appears to be tightly upholstered/trimmed so that it rubs up against an awkwardly positioned part of metal frame (inside construction of seat), giving the corner of the seat a "shabby" look- the stitching in this area seems stressed, and the leather hard and well worn- especially noticeable as the seats are buckskin. Does anybody know of this problem on their car, or is my seat abnormal..??!?! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The frame problem is a design fault. It can be rectified with the seat cover removed
The hardness is caused by old age - the foam looses its elasticity and starts to crumble.
I suppose a good trimming firm could rebuild it to your requirements

Pick up some good second hand seats when you can. It will be by far the cheapest way to get over your problem. Retrimming costs a fortune - I was estimated £400 for new leather on the passenger seat and he finally presented a bill for £650 - I paid £575 but would not have had the work done if I had known it would turn out that expensive. Took a whole hide to do the job mind you.

This post shows some of the work in progress. roverp5.proboards31.com/index.cgi?board=interior31&action=display&thread=1116715585I removed the better cover from a passenger seat back I had spare and after restitching put this onto my drivers seat back. I also re foamed a lot of it with foam purchased from a re trimmer here in NZ good foam is expensive and you need the help of an expert to get small offcuts of the various grades you need starting from quite firm and progressing to very soft on the top. If you take a seat apart carefully and look you will see what I mean. I laminated 3 different grades to each other with contact foam glue to build up what I wanted. I also used a variety of devices to stuff wadding in to soft or flat spots at courners by peeling back the glue and working it in carefully with a thick knitting needle. www.leatherique.com/Regards
