Hi, I used to be in the Rover P6 club and attended the monthly meetings in The Bull, Sittingbourne. Having sold the P6 and moved abroad I have returned and surprised at the value of these cars now so having always wanted a P5 I am the proud owner of a Chrysler 300c which was designed with the P5 in mind. I am looking to start a Kent owners club and would consider linking up with you...interested? Chris 07716 301545 Attachment Deleted

I'd be interested to see a series of photos from different angles, with the Rover and Chrysler side by side and individually. What year is your 300C?

Hi, or Good day, Warwick Yes I would like to see the cars together too, P5 was always my favourite car but my girlfriend, now wife, hated them and nagged me to keep the Capri...we learn by our mistakes. I will gate crash the next Kent pub meeting but would like an invite, sausage rolls then, and I will post some images of the profiles. Seriously the Chrysler 300c is a great car and feels just like I remember when I sat in the P5...pure comfort. grace and power when required. Mine is a 1st generation 2008 model CRD, diesel ( 30-35 mpg ) Regards Chris

Blimey Chris, I think you mean G'day. Pronounced Gidday, Gedday, or Gudday, depending on where you're from.
I assumed it was an early one. Do you have an opinion on the external styling changes over the years?

G,day Warwick, shame your in Aussie as it seems like the club needs something done to shoot some new positive attitude into it. Seems like the Chrysler 300c designer, Ralph Giles, really took a shine to the Rover P5 Coupe Rover P5 Chrysler 300c Length 4,737mm 4,999mm Width 1,778mm 1,881mm Height 1,473mm 1,483mm Weight 1,587Kg 2,385Kg Interesting pictures of the grills too Chris Attachments:

The impression is that they are much bigger, but it seems not from those numbers. My question about your opinion of later styling changes related to the addition of unnecessary (in my opinion) cheap-looking chrome bling on the tail-light lenses, and things like that. Again in my opinion, the later face-lifted models took what was originally a nice clean design and 'cheapened' it. The current models look more like an upper level drug dealer's car. (And dare I say it - as do current model Bentleys and Rolls Royces)
Your problem with the lack of response is probably due to you awakening a 2 year old thread. Even the Regional Rep who started it hasn't logged in for nearly as long, so is probably long gone. The pub changes described in the original post have probably resulted in the demise of this group.
Also, because this thread is specifically about a particular regional pub-meet group's meeting dates and locations, few others are likely to read it. I just happen to read everything on the forum. (I know; sad, isn't it)
So my suggestion would be to start a new thread and ask your question again.

Wow. I'd always believed it was the other way round. The 'early Chryslers (in the '50s) had a maw grille. Trying to put up a pic. Let's see if it works. Attachments:

Wow. I'd always believed it was the other way round. The 'early Chryslers (in the '50s) had a maw grille. .... No, you've misunderstood me. I was talking about the early MODERN Chrysler 300C, like Chris', compared with the later 300Cs. The original model was just right. Then they started adding little bits of bling and they became tacky-looking. EDIT: I've only just realized what NZ and Jaluky were referring to. I was unaware that there was a Chrysler 300C model in the 1950s. So I've edited this post to further clarify my comment.

I thought it was only me that thought the latest Rolls Royces and Bentleys were awful tarted up pimps cars. Truly hideous. No modern car really 'does it' for me they all seem to have melted or been designed by Salvadore Dali,or even both.

And unlike many things Kev, they look even more so in the flesh than they do in photos! Those cars were once the hallmark of the very wealthy establishment. Now they are the trinkets of the nouveau mega-rich. (Think the oil states and China)
