Hi guys. Been to busy to work on my car for a while as we sold house and had distractions. However now in a new to us place and back on the job. I had a broken wire on the little reostat at the heater box, figured it was why the fan didn't work. I had assumed that either of the slider controls made air come out. But having soldered that up,I still have no joy. So, can someone please confirm the location of the fan switch for me? Can find any info. Is it a slider function of should there be another control? Google gave me an eBay link to a replacement switch that looks just like the cluster type switches, but I don't have any other switches I can see. Cheers!

Donald Rheostat on the Heater box? do you mean the green flat Resistor on the Heater motor that reduces the voltage to the motor?

On Mk2's the Heater fan Slow/Off/Fast switch is above the ignition switch - there is no rheostat just a fixed resistor on the side of the motor that is bypassed or switched in by the dash switch so you need to check you have the 12v supply at the motor with said switch in both the Left and Right positions

So I found the control switch! The resistor at the motor had a broken lead when I got it. I had tried all the levers and switches before finding that and nothing. When I got around to replacing the tap, I soldered the lead back on the reostat. Still couldn't figure out how to turn the fan on tho. Anyway I took it for a spin the other night and hit the fuel switch instead of the light switch and the fan turned on!! switch is marked fuel... Like my mk 3. So it appears the dash may have been replaced or at least that switch had been with the label being incorrect for a V8 saloon. All good now! Heater works a treat too, which is needed right now in melbourne

So I’m a bit slow on the uptake it seems. This heater control is standard and stock. Someone sometime has put the dash together using a fuel bezel.. which is what thru me for a six. The ignition also has a busted bezel and it’s swimming a little in the hole. So gotta find some dash pieces to make it all betterer!
