Hello everybody i filled my Rover P5B Coupe up Sunday morning as i was taking the car out on a classic car rally for charity when we all got to our destination one of the drivers who was following me said every time i went round a rounderbout i was getting fuel coming out of the overflow pipe has enybody else had this problem and how can i stop it leaking out as i would have thought this should not happen the only thing i can do for the moment is not to fill it up more than half a tank but thats not the answer i would much appreciate somebodys help thank you.

I had this problem decades ago at a time when Halfords had a good selection of radiator caps. A few of these caps had a very thin, but wide, rubber gasket. A perfect size to fit on the underside of the cap. It has never leaked again. Rubber against rubber will always get a better seal than rubber to metal. If you keep the cap 'locked' it pulls it down a fraction

Thank you both for your replies i purchased a petrol cap rubber seal from the club and it has solved my problem no more leakes i am keeping a spare in the boot just in case i am sorry for the late reply but i have been unwell thank you again Colin.
