Many moons ago I put a Zodiac V6 engine in a short wheel base transit recovery wagon. To finish of the front i used a diesel bonnet but had to make a front panel,I had an old rover P4 or P5 grille (can't remember which) and used that in a rush to get the vehicle back on the road. (As an aside the resulting contraption, although lethal in the wet would leave most cars well behind from a standing start.) Soon after getting it back on the road I saw an old boy (probably my age now) looking at it with his wife.As I got to it he said "I was telling the wife that I wasn't aware rover ever made trucks, that must be very rare, its the only one I've ever seen, good that you are keeping it on the road". Before I could reply he wandered off and maybe it was better that I didn't say anything,I imagine he'd dine out on that story for some time. What weird comments have you had about your vehicle?

I did a chauffeur service once for a couple and the foreign restaurant owners came out as they were dropped off and swore it was a Rolls Royce.

On the Roverfest weekend i was approaching Gaydon on the M40 northbound in lane one. I was aware of a car behind in lane two. It ran alongside me for some time, then forward. A rear passenger was hanging out the window with a video camera. As it seemed they weren't overtaking, I moved forward to find they kept up and then overtook me into lane one. A satisfying interest in my car - perhaps we will see their interest on uTube sometime!

About 35 years ago when we lived in suburban Melbourne, I was working in my garage one Saturday afternoon. The house was built on a hill and the garage was under it, and not far from the street. The door was fully open, so anyone walking past could easily see inside. The rear end of my incomplete Mk.7 Bolwell was clearly visible from the footpath. I've managed to find a photo of our old house on the web and I've attached a photo of the rear of the Bolly, taken elsewhere, so that you can get an idea of what would be seen from the street when walking past. Attachment DeletedA couple of young Greek kids in their late teens, who lived just down the street a bit, stopped at the bottom of the driveway and were clearly hesitating. And then one of them walked up the drive and said "Excuse me. Is that a Dingo Ferrari?"
