Hi Folks,
The leather on the seats in my car is on good condition, but some of the stitching is now is now starting to go and the foam inserts could do with replacing - I'd also like to get the leather conolised
Can anyone recommend a car upholsterer and conoliser in the London area - one that has experience with Rover P5Bs preferably
Any help appreciated !
ThanksTony

Tony, I recently used c.a.Upton's in Hastings on the south coast. Out of London but they know the car and did a good job. Cheers. Ray

ThanksTony Tony in a past life I was a trimmers apprentice but chose the dark side and went into IT instead, foolish I know but subject to how bad your seats are, its amazing what you can do without professional help. Buy a Woolies trim recolouring kit,one came with my car and although the guy had done a 'first pass attempt' I had to do it my way (ie properly). I just finished it last night, very easy to do and not that much effort. Interior looks and smells superb now. Secondly a lot of old thread that has gone can still be resewn with new into the original holes if you are careful. You need a decent heavy needle like for jeans and matching thread again heavier than for clothes. Fortunately Rover made the seat bases easy to pop out which saves a lot of backache. Any open threads can have their ends sealed with a dab of clear nail varnish. If you need to repair ripped leather, you really need to remove the seat and take the cover off however a few years ago I discovered Stormsure seleant, which is amazing stuff. Fixes rips in all sorts without the need to take apart the material. I fixed soft top hood tears and leaks in our MX5 and leather seat rip. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F182610804500Anyway good luck and have a go yourself. Also instead of expensive connolly hide food (which can take dye off your seats if you are not careful) go to a shop selling horse goods they have massive tubs of hide food for saddles cost peanuts, just as good.

A number of years ago I had my seats renovated by C&D Autos of Brighton, now moved to Lewes under name The Trim Centre. They have been connected with fitting the Webasto sunroof for over 50 years and have done two recovers for me in the past. Try their website or phone is 01273 479616.

Mick on here (known as 'Velvet' forum name) also does retrims and has lots of P5 experience from what I have seen. Look him up under members.

I can thoroughly recommend Velvet's work - he has done door cards, dash roll and centre console for me and its superb.
Note that He owns a P5b himself and has fully re-trimed it to a rolls Royce standard - very impressive.
