you can always ask the dealer for the last owner's membership number. I dont think that would breach Data Acts. You can see any SORN and MoT record on line.

Email: membership@roverp5club.org.uk as our Membership Secretary keeps all supplied details of past owners and cars. Data protection means he cannot give you sensitive info, but at least it is a start.

hi Simon ,many thanks for your information ,It worries me why there was no bids on it ,it I am thinking that its rusty underneath because last year it failed the mot for specific reasons such as oil leak ,rear silencer but the think that worries me is that there is general underside corrosion and sills corroded, till now I can see the car on the photos and maybe they restored it,i am planning to come to uk by the end of this month because I am Maltese,if you know someone that saw it when it was on ebay please let me know. many thanks

If it IS the one that was on Ebay in my opinion he was asking about £3k - £4k more than it was worth as a 'project'. The price he was asking was overly optimistic even if the car had a full MOT. He'd messed with the engine main bearings and big ends. 'Park' was inoperative on the gearbox and at least one door card and armrest was missing.
By the way, I found the ebay listing by putting the registration number into google and then selecting images. I found a picture of the actual car and a piece of text associated with it was "I am a Rover enthusiast and have been for 25 years owning many examples of the Marque". I copied and pasted that into Google and found a few links including the one to ebay.
Good luck in your quest to buy a good P5

Rover V8s are readily and easily repairable. The thing that springs to mind here is why did this guy feel the need to drop the sump of a 24,000 mile car to check the bearings? Did anybody ever in the history of P5Bs do that? Just for the sake of it? And then only do half of a job? (No crank shaft regrind). Remember that the car is 'unrestored' in the April 2017 Ebay listing. Be very cautious.

hi many tanks for your reply, what a shame that he messed the engine ,probably the dealer that is selling the car now is doing some kind of restoration to the car because he put the car for sale on his website and on trovit more than a month ago and he is saying that the car will be available till the end of September and he was going to send some more photos and till now nothing
