Hello chaps. I'm new here and hoping to benefit from your experience. I'd like to post pics of my beautiful P5, but my only P5 part I own fits here. which is here under the cat It came with the project so condition is unknown. It's a late engine with a 'c' suffix and as you may see it's had an adaption for the carb mount as they don't fit a LR. One question I had was what are the differences on the 'c' engines to the earlier models? I've been trying to clear the water channels as when I fitted a new core plug I felt lots of rusty gunk under where the plug is. Also the drain plug doesn't drain. Any good ideas? To make things slightly worse after having the engine run in the project quite a lot (and it does sound nice) a temp fix on the bulkhead end of the inlet manifold came loose and started to leak. I'm going to have to get it off and repaired but wondered whether they come off easily or will the bolts shear? Lastly (for now), the oil filter housing seems to leak. I will look to do a full oil filter change when I get to the engine (currently rebuilding the front axle) and hope a clean filter and new gaskets will solve the problem - but is this likely to be more? Thanks for looking at my post and if you are at all interested, Walter Henry, the 109 Station Wagon has his own Twitter feed twitter.com/SHO161GAll advice about getting this engine running ok will be gratefully received. Regards Toby

Pull it out, strip it and replace worn parts and the crankshaft seals. Remove all the welsh plugs so that you can clean out the corrosion.
Seriously, replacing worn big ends and journals now may save a major rebuild with crank regrind.
