This may be a daft question (!), but all the wiring diagrams show a direct wire from ignition terminal 2 to the ballast, plus a Coupe-only wire from ignition terminal 2 to the ballast via the Tachometer. Am I right to assume on the coupe the direct wire is omitted, so the only connection between ignition and ballast is via the Tachometer?
I assume so as the two routes are parallel, but just want to be sure this isn't something odd, such as the Tachometer only needing a low current to induce the signal rather than the full ballast current.

Richard,
The wire.from ignition terminal to ballast is for the saloon. With the Coupe the wire runs from the ignition to the tacho and from the tacho it runs to the ballast. If you would also fit the "saloon" wire, your tacho is bypassed and would not work so your assumption is correct that the wires from ignition to ballast should not be fitted.

The White wire from the Ignition "basically" forms an Inductive Pickup internally for the Tacho, the Yellow and White goes to the Ignition Coil it doesn't need a Ballast to work. The circuit gives both options it just doesn't say so
