HI All, Im getting frustrated and patience has run rather thin now, so can anyone help..
72 p5b - It started to turn over as if it had a flat battery and would not start.
Replaced battery and it fired up. tried it a couple of more times then it started to turn over again as it it had a flat battery and would not start.
Was advised it could be a lazy starter motor - so today jacked it up and fitted a new one.
Fired straight in to life on the first turn of the key - tried it again at least 10 times woo hoo perfect - Well that's what I thought !
Took it off the axle stands tidied up and thought Id nip out for a little run - turned the key all it was this time was just a click I tried it a few more time - still the same - Click and not turning over
I switched off battery cut off off, jacked it all back up again and checked wires on starter - all seemed ok checked fuse box relay earths all look ok.
Then as I turned the battery cut off back on it stated to turn over on its own without even the key in the ignition!
I stripped out dash to see if there were any visible wiring issues with the ignition switch etc but nothing noticable
Any suggestion / help would be greatly received
Many thanks
Richard

Hi Richard what is the starter 6RA doing that's the one you hear clicking fitted on the bulkhead RH side (looking from the front) of the heater box, this is energised when you turn the key as long as the inhibitor on the gearbox is ok (in park or neutral), the 6RA then gives 12v to the starter solenoid, so check you are getting 12v every time from the 6RA? if you have the motor turning all the time the relay is stuck or the solenoid is stuck?
