Took the old bus and the family to the Drive In last night, a bit of a trip down memory lane. These outdoor theatres were a huge thing when I was a kid, I remember going in our PJ's and have a ball playing with the other kids in the large playgrounds before the movies started and at Intermission. As an young adult in the late 70's and early 80's these become impromptu car shows every weekend. The old poles for the window mounted speakers are still there but thankfully it's all through the radio now. NB. Photos are just from the web, not mine.

Which one Oz? Dromana is the only one I can think of that still exists, but it must be nearly 20 years since I last went to it.

Coburg, I believe there is one in Dandenong as well. (http://www.lunardrive-in.com.au/) They used to be everywhere, Burwood was our local when I was a kid back in the late 60's early 70's, Burwood, Wantirna and Croydon closed years ago. www.drive-insdownunder.com.au/
