Has anyone a glue they can recommend to stick the door seals to the bodywork? I cleaned the doors and rubbers with acetone tried Evostick and Dunlop they don't hold very well

Supaglue is recommended but I do not know how long it will last. On my Land Rover I use 2 part fast set epoxy!

Hi Phil I understand Supaglue to join the rubbers but I don't fancy it to stick the seals to the doors

John i use the Dunlop T1358 glue, we use for the interior work as well, its got a high temp melting point. The best way to use it is to put a coat over the door area and on the seal first, let this go off for 20mins depending on condition so it dry, then re coat the same area and allow the glue just to go off so its a little tacky then stick away.

I have tried to find Dunlop Barry but they have sold out to Alpha Adhesives the new product is S1358 (min order 5lts) gave my local agent which is Peterborough they will only sell me a tin if he get rid of the spare tins! as he has none in stock! and has to buy 12 1ltr tins but he gave me some advise that Evo-stik 528 is the strongest impact adhesive on the market! so I will give that one a try

I did not know you still get that stuff - is it the old fashioned stringy, fumey stuff thats sticks anything forever!

After talking to a supplier of industrial adhesives with the intention to buy some Evo-stik 528 he advised me to try another product Bostik 2402 which in his opinion was a superior adhesive so he is sending me some, a litre is £27.47 including next day delivery I will keep you posted

Yes I agree Phil but after buying 3 products that didn't work if this one works it's worth the money! the door seals are bad enough to stick but the boot one is even worse and it works out at 1.5 litres so I will have enough to do a friends Coupe as well as my own and still have enough for other bits that need sticking.

Phil, thats the stuff its excellent for what we use it for. John should have said when you was on the phone, we buy it as 12 1ltr tins but i could have sold you one it would have been half the price

Hi Barry didn't like to trouble you! buy the time you wasted your time packing and posting and me paying for postage it seemed easier this way! PLUS I get the chance to try another glue!! I rang the English supplier a few times and left a message! if all else fails I will ring the German one I reckon 5.1 metres of carpet

Thanks Barry a second opinion would be good a lot of the pieces are around a metre in length so at 42" wide there is not too much wastage the gearbox tunnel is the worst bit of wastage there is a piece 33cm X 1.7m! I can make some rear over mats out of that piece, if I make some over mats for the front it works out at 6.2 metres

Hi John had a measure up for you and would say that 5meters would be would be the amount we would order if we was to do the job, i would say order 5.5 meters to play safe or even 6 if you wanted to make the mats, (full set of mats use 1 meter) If you need anymore help just shout

Bostik 2402 works really well 1st coat dries in 5-10 mins stick another one on leave for 5-10 mins depends on temp, if it is a tricky moulding put a wet coat on before putting in place. It is a 2 part product very easy to apply not stringy so little or no mess
