Does anyone know if replacements (or alternatives) are available for the gaiter / boot that seals the steering column to the bulkhead, under the dashboard? Mine's falling apart, and I can't find a replacement from the usual sources. I haven't tried David Green yet, but was thinking possibly other cars from the same period shared this item? Any other ideas on replacements?

I had the same problem and could not find a replacement. i believe its only used on the P5B and the angle makes it difficult to find a replacement. I welded a piece of pipe on the flange at an angle so could use a straight rubber. I found a kind of gaitor in my shed and do not know where it came from. A gaitor from a steering rack from for example an MGB could be a suitable kandidate or a gaitor which you find on front forks on some motorbikes
fitted it with a pair of hose clamps. I doubt DG has these as all are very old now and perished. Was surprised Wadhams do not have these.

Thanks Peter, that looks tidy and seems like a great solution. I hadn't thought of adding a tube at an angle to the flange - at least then you can use a straight item as a replacement. As you say, I guess most originals will be in a poor state by now, so second-hand isn't a good solution.
