Nearly 12 years ago, when I searched on line to show my 11-year-old son what a P5B Coupe looked like, this was the car I found. He was impressed. A couple of months later, while we were driving home from an outing to the British & European Car Show at Flemington racecourse to see several at the Rover Car Club's display, he talked me into driving from Melbourne to Brisbane to buy one that Easter.
Well, I have got her back after relations with the restorer let's say 'Broke Down' I won't use the forum as a platform to what happened.
Many thanks to John Wallett for helping me sort out what was needed. Without him I would be up the amazon without a paddle. I still have some work to do on her. The main thing is she is on the road.
We got there in the end GB this should't happen to such a nice guy!
For a car with an "MOT" it was a struggle!!
Both Drums saturated with brake fluid Top ball joint seized DS No front brakes No Wipers wiper motor us Wiper Wheel Box spigots no splines No Horn Wiring was a nightmare too many faults to remember!! Wrong Switches Fitted Lights not working Copper Brake pipe dangerous Steering box leaking Diff full of rust Handbrake not working Dash Broken in half!! Steering Shroud Broken Windows wouldn't wind down only half way Engine was so far out of timing it would't pull it's self up my flat drive! plus the SU's no where near set up correctly
Plus a load of other silly things all the above now done.
Thanks to David Green and Dave Cole who helped out with parts at least GB has a good starting block now and he will get there
They were reported to the DVSA by myself. I spoke to a gentleman who rang me. As John had fixed some of the issues (let's be honest, you want it rectified asap) he could not help but he did assure me that the MOT station would get an unsuspected visit. This should easily have been done by now that is why I am posting it.
Just be thankful you didn't use my 'restorer'. Thirteen years it took to get the car back, then another year to get it sorted. Sad thing was even after a year of driving, I fell out of love with it and sold it. The car now resides on the Isle of Wight. :-(
