Hi, Does anyone have a close up pic of the bonnet light switch showing how it is mounted ? Thanks Tim. Tagging onto this question/thread too, I know the under bonnet lights x 2 were standard fitment on the P5B coupe models and I was wondering is the Saloon model already pre-wired for them as I noticed the other day on the underside of the saloon bonnet that the mounting holes and screw holes are there in situ on the saloon's bonnet?? I would like to retro fit a pair in time so was wondering about the wiring and if its already there to plug the lamps in to. Regards,

The bonnet light switch is a pretty basic setup - a door switch mounted on a piece of bent metal that's bolted to the inner wing near the fusebox and is compressed by the bonnet closing. My Coupe has a +ve feed from fuse terminal 2 (the courtesy light feed) that runs directly to the under-bonnet lamps. The earth is switched through the switch. The wiring runs into the rear bonnet brace and to the lights. I routed my wiring through the bonnet spring which prevents it getting near the hinge, but not sure if that was standard. I don't believe any wiring was pre-installed in Saloons.

A typical Rover afterthought. You can have the Lucar feed onto the Sidelights or Ignition fuse if you wish

Hi Olaf, hopefully these are useful - the garage is quite dark at the moment. You'll have to excuse the state of the car, as its been stuck in my garage for 2 years while I fixed a load of things, new loom included. Thank you, Richard! RE the darkness: I can confirm that. Presently, my garage is a far too cold and dark place. Cheers, Olaf

Hi Olaf, hopefully these are useful - the garage is quite dark at the moment. You'll have to excuse the state of the car, as its been stuck in my garage for 2 years while I fixed a load of things, new loom included. I added the black earth wire direct to the switch body as I wasn't sure how well the earth would get through the bracket, and the lamps aren't exactly dazzling anyway. The hole in the bracket where it bolts to the wing is slotted, so you can vary the height of the bracket and switch - obviously too low and the lamps will never turn off, too high and you might damage the bonnet. The +ve is wired to the fuse block terminal 2 (the purple courtesy lamp supply). I ran the two cables to the lamps through the hinge spring, which keeps it out of the way of the hinge - again, I don't think that's how the factory did it.
