Thought I would activate this as a new thread. Its all fun and keeps us all in the know what we get up to on our P5B's each day so i'll start it off,
Well ive been busy since taking delivery of mine 1 week ago tomorrow. Since then I have serviced and cleaned the battery tray area and battery and connected my Ctek charger lead.
Ive put the car up on stands, removed and cleaned all 5 wheels inside and out in preparation for the new white band tyres to be fitted ( TBC ) and then I shall paint the insides of the rims with Silver hammerite to keep them looking nice.
Ive also removed the front bumper and will remove the rear bumper too so I can re-mask the underseal line and freshly paint those lower flanks with satin black stone guard paint.
Done some body work polishing and hoovered the inside and also took a quick look underneath and wiped away any oil drips and slightly tweeked all the drain plugs which appeared loose hence why they were dripping. Hopefully this has now been cured.
Refurbished the rear number plate back plate and will refit this today once ive polished the boot lid area it goes over.
Plan to completely clean out all 4 wheel arch corners of the dry dirt and then completely spray wax oil all those areas with fresh wax oil.
I think I have enough to be keeping me busy so far. LOL. Its all great fun and gives me a new pleasure of doing it myself and adding my own stamp/mark to the car.
So come on guys and girls, lets hear about what you have all been up to with your P5B's.
Regards,

Opened the garage door looked at the Rover, wished it was spring time and closed the garage door returning to the house before it chucked it down. Oh for better weather.

Just wondered where your underseal line is, there should only be glossy paint behind the bumpers Have done nothing on mine today, but I have a little list !

Mine was rust proofed from new and I have the period certificate in the cars history file dated 1973 from its first owner. It appears the lower front and lower rear valences were treated from the bottom upwards too and about 2 inches up which is hardly noticeable. Yes there is still a lot of nice shiney Admiralty Blue behind those bumpers.
Managed to have a real good look underneath mine today too and she is 100% solid all over and exceptionally well preserved with the rust proofer. A few drips of oil here and there but I think it adds to the cars character. Ive wiped everything off clean and will monitor. All linkages are well lubricated too which is testament to how the car has been looked after by its 2 previous owners.
Down to me now as the new custodian to keep it going which I will be doing.
Regards, Brendan

Regards, Brendan In 1994 I broke a local late 72 saloon that I had been Ziebarted from new and still had labels and plugs all over. It was too far gone to restore then although done some far worse before and subsequently. Some parts are still in the P5's I use now and ready to fit so not a bad end result

Haven't done anything in a few years (of course mine is a P5 mk IIc) but life keeps getting in the way and I need to keep the Ford running to get to and from work. Plus trying to keep the E-Type working for the fun trips! Maybe in a coulple of years when everything settles down in my life (ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha <snort> ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!)

I started mine up yesterday and warmed the engine and charged the battery fully and made sure the brakes and clutch were free. Also investigated the garage for any signs of new residents (critters). None found. With snow and salt outside all I can do now is listen to the AM radio in the car.

Getting the car ready for tomorrow's Christmas Pagent. Our car club usually has a dozen or so cars in the parade. Temp should be 27c so it will be very pleasant! A really laid back community event for the kids (young and old) to enjoy.

Regular start ups will do it the world of good and if any rodents are close it will scare them away. Regards,

Well today ive fitted my badge bar to the front bumper and also applied a fresh coat of Hammerite paint to the entire rear sections of my front bumper for even longer preservation. Previous owner had done this. im just topping up his great work.
I also bought some Hammerite wax oil and the pump sprayer from Halfords. £65 for the lot. Its a job I will do over at my local P5 specialists as he has a 4 poster lift and does not mind if the floor gets dirty. LOL.

Be careful what you wish for. We had about 6 weeks of scorchio this summer, now a distant memory but it was bliss We saw that on the TV news. Highly unusual. This time in February it will be the 10th anniversary of Black Saturday in Victoria. And all indications are that this summer will be worse. Even areas of sub-tropical rainforest in coastal and inland Queensland have been devastated by bushfires during the past couple of weeks. If that can happen up there, it's not looking good for down here.

Had my 5 new white band tyres fitted today and also did some more fresh top up on the underseal which should keep her solid for another 50 years.
Removed rear bumper also so as to be able to 100% polish the bodywork behind it and also to paint the inside of the rear bumper for preservation purposes.
Its all good fun. I think
