Hello I have just found and purchased a pair of new sill strips for my Rover so this is just a note to anyone looking for some. They are to be found on Ebay but I'm not sure how many are left

Hello I have just found and purchased a pair of new sill strips for my Rover so this is just a note to anyone looking for some. They are to be found on Ebay but I'm not sure how many are left Yes I saw those on ebay a while ago. Decent price too TBH and I am pretty sure they are the exact same as those that were fitted to my Bentley albeit they cost a lot more. I never re-fitted mine with the clips. Instead I used some really heavy duty bodywork double sided tape which held them on a treat and deleted the need to drill holes for the clips unless of course you already have the holes still in your sills for new clips to be fitted. Regards,

I've ordered a pair they will arrive on Thursday or Friday I think as for the clips I will see what I have left as there are some left from the restoration but they are available from either the dreaded Wadhams or go on line and find Bresco they do alsorts of stuff. Back to the strips for a moment the guy who is selling them is a club member so they will be OK I'm very careful what I get off ebay it has to be said

I will do and I like your sense of humour it brought a smile to my face On another matter since it's taken me over 2 years to become a Rover Fanatic how long did it take you to be a True Viking and are you now very old and very wise?

When I bought mine and joined the forum, I spent so much time posting here and learning about my new acquisition that it only took me just over a year to clock up more than 500 posts. This propelled me into a member category that implied that I was some sort of expert on these cars. I can't remember what the levels were back then. They've changed. David (Admin) will know, if no-one else can remember. Anyway, it was embarrassing when in the cyber-space company of the likes of Phil and JohnW, to name just two. So I abandoned my original persona ( roverp5.proboards.com/user/303 ) and started again to reset the clock. So in answer to your question - Getting old, but not particularly wise. Incidentally, when looking on line for a good photo of a P5B Coupe to show my young son in 2007, the first one I found was the car of our very own Mr. Silltrims.

New sill strips arrived yesterday and they look good . I haven't completely unwrapped them as I don't want to risk damaging them so they are in a safe place until it's time to fit them, which will be done at the same time as the coachline

They will really pop against your cars colour too. Regards, Brendan

They were on prior to the restoration work and the did look good along with the coachline Oh righto, I take it then you still have the holes for the fixing clips to be re-fitted prior to clipping the sill trims back on??? I am sure your lower front wings where they marry up with the lower doors are 100% flush and aligned so the trims all connect properly with the clips thus no gap?? Ive seen loads that don't and often miss a clip because there has been a lower wing repair and the fit has not been flush albeit I am sure yours will be perfect. Regards,

If you place a piece of thick masking tape over the spot where you will be drilling, it minimises the risk of the drill bit skidding off centre when you drill. This is in addition to centre-punching of course.

Don't forget option B David which is to stick them on using the strong 3M body tape which I used on my Bentley side trims. Worked a treat and they never budged a mm. Negates the need to drill holes for the clips.

Option B has been discussed at length and sound like a good idea. I just need a nice little union Jack badge for the boot lid as well for three reasons
1 I had one one it when I got the car and it was often commented on
2 Mrs Battye wants it putting back on
3 See reason two
