My favourite YouTube channel has just posted a video featuring a P5 they'll be restoring. It's a LHD in Canada. I really like Scott's (the owner of Cold War Motors) appreciation of old cars and he has some amazing skills, so this will be well worth watching: www.roverp5.com/1963-rover-p5-project/

Should be nice when its all done. I noticed the gear lever is the same as my 73 P5B's??? which I thought a bit strange unless it was used on these early model P5's.
It clearly shows the shape and the push button of the later model as I remember early P5B's had a round gear selector knob.

It's a manual not an auto, I guess it's put on there because the top of the gearstick was lost or broken. Only the very later MK3 P5 models had the BW35, before that they were fitted with the DG auto which had column change.

Having said that, I would imagine most Rovers exported there, especially later on, were auto V8s, so more easily obtainable. I note that it also has the 'Rover' badge on the front wings but can't remember whether all US-spec ones had them, or just the early ones.
