I just had a closer look at the front bumper support bracket on my P5B, and it appears that it has received its bumps over the years and I doubt any angle is what it once was. Can anybody help me with the right shape?
Thanks,
Jens.

Hmm...it does look like its seen better days. Simply make/fettle both sides so they're symmetrical Jens...which currently they certainly aren't.

The L hand backing bar looks about right, as does the L end of the bumper bar. As enigmas says, get the R to look like the L.

The one on your "passenger" side looks the more correct Jens you should be able to tell by the Blade distance from the body as long as both bumper irons from the subframe are equal length?

Thanks!
It appears that it is pretty soft and easy to bend in shape. I had envisioned it would take a lot of effort to adjust, and wanted to be sure. It is so soft that it can pretty much be fine tuned on the car.
Busy weekend ahead with bumper fitting, steering box installation and getting our daughters house ready for her to move in.

You obviously stay in shape Jens if you consider the front bumper irons soft. My rear bumper irons also incorporate a tow bar. Looking at them today I could see that one side where the bumper angles round to the side of the car is slightly higher. I'll get to it at some point but will use an oxy/acetylene torch to adjust them.

Seeing your picture reminds me that I still have to mount the little red nipples above the headlamps. These were missing when I bought my P5B. I bought them from Wadhams eons ago but it didn't occur to me how they're mounted. Any pointers?

The pips are held in place with a small screw. Seeing your picture reminds me that I still have to mount the little red nipples above the headlamps. These were missing when I bought my P5B. I bought them from Wadhams eons ago but it didn't occur to me how they're mounted. Any pointers?

Just ensure you inform any mechanics that may work on your car that there are 2 small parking light 'indicators' perched on top of the parkers at the end of the front 'wing/mudguard'...as they invariable break them off whilst working on the engine. Oh yes...and they all seem to suffer amnesia when you ask them what happened to the missing 'indicator?'

My front bumper does not fit very well. (The two end pieces are well clear of the bodywork.) I have dismantled it and the support bars are 'rippled' and twisted. It seems the bars should just be straight with bends. Does anyone know the correct dimensions and bend angles of the factory items? I think it would be easier to create new brackets from bar stock rather than try to straighten the existing pieces. Thanks, Stephen

Rusting screws expand and eventually split the pips.

May I suggest that it would be easier and more authentic to source some second hand originals.

That last refers to the front bumper brackets , not the 'pips'!
